Lilly was one of our wonderful Carols ambassadors in 2024, and in the past six months, this determined 17-year-old has continued to make her voice heard.
Lilly and her mum fought hard to raise awareness of the inaccessibility of train stations without tactile ground surface indicators, which help people who are blind or have low vision use trains safely.
After getting more than 10,000 people to sign a petition, Lilly has successfully campaigned to have Metro install these surface indicators at Ivanhoe station, ensuring Lilly and many others can now use the platforms safely.
“Her advocacy has been amazing,” says mum Lisa.
Lilly has also started her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Melbourne, and recently won a Green Room Award for "Outstanding ensemble or featured ensemble" with her classmates (pictured below).
Suffice to say, she’s been keeping very busy in the pursuit of her goals!
